Plans for 2009

2009 will be a massive year for Friends of the Earth. We need to make sure that the UK Government gets cracking on delivering climate solutions, and we need to get biodiversity loss back on the political agenda. Meanwhile, world leaders gather in Copenhagen in December 2009 to negotiate a global climate deal.

Nationally FoE has four campaigning priorities:

· Renewables (ending in March).

· Livestock: a big new campaign for a livestock bill.
· Local Government: Persuading priority councils to cut emissions in their area by 40% by 2020.
· Copenhagen: as part of a huge global demand for a strong and fair deal.
