Privacy

At Sheffield Friends of the Earth we take your privacy very seriously and we’re committed to protecting your personal information online.

Sharing your data
We will never sell your details to other organisations.

If you’ve given your specific consent for us to share your data, we may share your contact details with Friends of the Earth England, Wales and Northern Ireland or other local groups.

If you sign a petition which involves a hand-in, for example a petition to be handed in to No. 10 Downing Street, it may be necessary to include some contact details on the petition hand-in. These details will not be shared further. Otherwise we would only disclose your data if we are obliged to do so by law.

Keeping your details up to date
The accuracy of your information is important to us. If you change your home or email address or if any of the other information we hold is inaccurate or out of date, please contact us.

Email
We cannot guarantee the confidentiality of any messages transmitted between you and us via email as these are potentially accessible by the public. We will not be liable to you or anyone else for any loss in connection with any email message sent by you to us or by us to you.

General Email List
If you subscribe to our Google Groups mailing list then it will be used by Sheffield Friends of the Earth to send updates about Sheffield Friends of the Earth's campaigns, events and fundraising (including donations). Typically, you will receive about 2-3 updates per month.

Anyone subscribing to the mailing list can send emails to all other members. We cannot be held responsible for the content sent by others. If you have a complaint about emails which are sent then please get in touch with us via the contact section on our website.

The mailing list provides details about changing settings and unsubscribing. Details are on our website too. If you have any issues then please get in touch with us.

Social Media
Sheffield Friends of the Earth operates social media sites. These are used to send updates about Sheffield Friends of the Earth's campaigns, events and fundraising (including donations). They are also used to promote environmental news stories.

Activists Database
Active members attending meetings will have the opportunity to be recorded on our activists' database. If you give consent, you email address will be used to send emails about campaigns and the running of the group. The amount of emails sent varies based on how active we are but you might expect 2-3 emails per week on average.  If you give consent, your phone number will be used to send last minute text and voice updates for work that you have agreed to take part in. For example, we might contact you to let you know about a change of location for a photo stunt. If you give consent, your postal address will be used to send campaign materials that you have agreed to take part in.  For example, we might send you copies of a petition and leaflets if you have agreed to run a stall.
